Amish Carriage

Believe it or not, this was a road. I thought I would take it just to see where it went.

This is a single-frame HDR. I tweaked the color a little.

Wind Surfer in Tampa

I captured a wind surfer as the sun was setting. It was extremely windy.

Hocking Hills

February 19, 2010

I took a quick trip out to Hocking Hills to see what it looked like. I wish I had of went earlier in the week.

It was beautiful. Of course there had to be a bunch of idiots there climbing all over the ice and breaking ice cycles. What is wrong with people? Why can't they just appreciate something beautiful and leave it the way they found it for someone else to enjoy.

I am only putting one photo out here for the moment. I will put more out here as I get a chance.

Tobacco Barn

I was driving around one day after the rain and came across this barn. There was fog all around. The fog doesn't show up very well but the clouds look pretty good.

This is a combination of 3 shots. Since then, I have read how to take multiple photos to combine for HDR processing. Although these weren't taken at the proper exposures for the best light and tone, the combination doesn't look too bad.

Another Project for School

Rembrandt Master Study

Rembrandt

This project was called a "Master Study". We had to take a famouse picture and replace objects and make it our own somehow. I chose to make all the heads in this picture Obama heads. While I was surfing the web looking for Obama heads, I came across this really cool photo of McCain. The expression was priceless. I decided to use him for the body. After all... the body was white and so is McCain. Here is a picture of the original.

I just noticed that I didn't change the color of the hands on the doctors. Ha ha, he must have that Michael Jackson disease.

Photo Project for School

I had to do some photo projects for school. This is one of the samples. I am still trying to figure out the color profile thing. The first photo has a color profile of ProPhoto and the second one has a color profile of RGB.

I have read articles saying that if you plan on printing your photos that you should use the ProPhoto color profile. This was fine with me. I used this profile and everything looked fine. Well it was fine until I posted my photos to the web. I started noticing that my colors were different. I asked other people to look at the photos and tell me what they thought. Some people couldn't tell the difference, while others did notice a huge dfference.

I started reading everything I could find on color profiles and posting stuff to the web. It turns out that not all web browsers can recognize all color profiles. I still use the ProPhoto color profile. If I plan on posting a photo to the web, I convert the final photo color profile to sRGB or Adobe RGB color profile.

I noticed that if you bring this page up in Internet Explorer and Firefox, there is a difference in they way they are displayed. IE8 the colors are darker and you can see a big difference between the two photos. Firefox 3.5.5 both photos look about the same color and richness. I noticed this difference while looking at these pages on my laptop. I haven't looked at them on my desktop yet.

Springrove Cemetery

I love this place. I know that sounds kind of morbid, but it is the greatest place to take pictures. There are wedding parties here getting their photos made almost every time I come here. Well they don't get their photos made in front of this building. They are usually over by the ponds or some of the other buildings.

Kings Island

Ray and I met Steve here for the skydiving event. Steve had to sign the paper work and he invited us to go along. We were in the employee area when the fireworks went off. I didn't have a tripod so this is a hand held shot. It didn't come out too bad considering.

Air Force One

One day in between classes, I was driving around to kill some time. I started to see planes flying around. I got the GPS out and realized I was near Wright Patterson Airforce Base. I drove by and these planes were practicing taking off and landing. It was really cool to see. You don't have a clue how big they are until you see them just a few feet above your head. I took a couple pictures of this plane with the blue nose. I didn't think it was anything special. A crowd of people formed and they started saying that it was the Air Force One.

Later security came and said we can't take pictures in the direction of the base. I asked about the plane and he was vague about it. He said it wasn't the presidents' plane but it was just as important. What does that mean? Later I found out that this is the backup Air Force One. The plane is only called Air Force One when the president is on it. Anyway, four days later is when this plane flew over New York for a publicity photo causing such a scare. It was then dubbed "Scare Force One".

Here is another article with comments from Mayor Bloomberg. News Article 2 This one also has a Youtube video.

The cost to taxpayers to fly Air Force One that day has been set at $328,831. Hey fellas, haven't you ever heard of Photoshop?

And they think they can manage our healthcare!
